our vision: a world without breast cancer

GRANTS

Grant Funding Opportunities available for 2011

The Komen Pittsburgh Affiliate is proud to announce the availability of grant funds for 2011. Grants will be made to support efforts to reduce breast cancer disparities in the 30 county service area in western and central Pennsylvania (Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Bedford, Blair, Butler, Cambria, Cameron, Centre, Clarion, Clearfield, Crawford, Elk, Erie, Fayette, Forest, Greene, Huntingdon, Indiana, Jefferson, Juniata, Lawrence, McKean, Mercer, Mifflin, Somerset, Venango, Warren, Washington and Westmoreland counties).

Based on a community needs assessment, Komen has identified the following funding priority areas:

1.  Increase and broaden breast health care awareness in densely populated areas/counties;
2.  Improve awareness of and access to timely breast health care in underserved and hard to reach populations;
3.  Identify and fund innovative practices that can help reduce the transportation barriers pervasive in the thirty county service area;
4.  Increase communication among service providers within the service area.

The deadline for applications is August 16, 2010, 5:00 PM.  A Komen Grants Information Workshop is being held June 22, 2010, 4:30-7:30 pm at The University Club in Pittsburgh.  A simultaneous webinar of the session is also available; tentatively scheduled from 5:30-7:00—you must register to participate in either part of the Workshop.

To obtain the Request for Applications, register for the Workshop, as well as other information on the grants process, contact Ruth Modzelewski at 412-342-0500.
